I believe that the way people are presented in movies and images influence how we view ourselves, others, and what is socially acceptable. "Confidence Is..." explores a nearly universal feeling by visually presenting ways in which confidence is expressed, experienced, and embodied by everyday people. By centering the experiences of Queer, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color the collection twists social expectations around gender, age, body image, and identity by providing different narratives around who or what might be associated with confidence. The themes in each set came from those being photographed and were made possible through collaboration.
The framed 24x36 poster is a compilation of the 11 of the different expressions explored in Volume 1. It was the official preview of the series at the Pancakes and Booze Art show in, Seattle 2021 and is a 1 of 1.

"Confidence Is, Antifascism Everyday"
"Confidence Is, ANTIFASCISM EVERYDAY", features Kannon, a self described radical leftist who was adopted from Korea. They break the binary by being unapologetic about who they are, how they live their life, while fighting and advocating for the rights of others. They believe that being able to live as our true selves is radical and that embracing who we are, and being able to show it or be it, despite what the world expects takes confidence. Kannon challenges the things that traditional American society views as wrong, weak, or not of value and uses them as a source of their confidence. Living authentically is a form of action, and being antifascist everyday means taking radical action, even if that action is self care.
