Now that your session is booked the fun begins! This is all about expressing yourself so think about what you want to remember about this time in your life. Our goal is to make this a fun and memorable experience. Think about what you like about your style and personality and what you want to see in your photos. We'll to photograph a number of different looks, ranging from candid moments full of laughter and smiles, to serious and pensive. No matter the pose, keep in mind that the best photos are often the ones where you can feel energy and connection.
Don't wait until the day before to decide your outfit, start playing around and trying things on now. First and foremost, go with items that makes you feel good about yourself. Don't forget to consider the weather & the location when making your decision. You may need to bring extra items for in between.
What are your interests? What means something to you right now? These can be items that relate to your identity, interests, or even your culture. What do you want to remember about now? Whatever you decide, get it ready now so you aren't stressing about it on the day of.
It's all in the details. Believe it or not clean or painted nails make all the difference. Apply makeup as you normally would, you want to look like you in your photos. If you're getting a haircut book your appointment a few days before the session. If you're going to get styled the day of, give yourself extra time for things to run late & for you to get from one place to the other without being rushed.
What overall feeling to you want to see in your photos? We're going to take lots of pictures. It may sound silly, but practice your facial expressions & poses in front of a mirror at home. Try different kinds of smiles and stances and see what you like. If you're comfortable ask for feedback from a friend or family member. You want to appear natural and confident so don't stress, have fun with it.
Start creating the soundtrack of your experience. Music can be such an influence on our mood. What do you want to feel when you look at your photos? Is it cool, stylish, playful, whatever it is, start putting together music that makes you feel that way. Listen to it when you're getting ready & on your way to the session. It can even played over a Bluetooth speaker while we create if you like.
Lay your clothes out. They may need to be ironed or steamed before tomorrow.
Pack everything that you may need for the session. Do it today and save yourself some stress.
*Drink lots of water. It may sound silly, but the more hydrated you are, the better your skin will look. If possible avoid salty, greasy, or oily foods & sugary drinks. You want to look & feel your best tomorrow.
*Do a little work out. Nothing strenuous or overly impactful, just a little something to tighten your muscles a bit. A few wall push ups or squats will give your body a firm look without much effort.
* Most importantly, be sure to get some sleep. You want to wake up feeling good & rested. This is your time to shine.
*This is your day, keep that in mind. Treat yourself to that special thing that makes you smile. You want to come feeling your best!
*I don't want you to feel rushed. Give yourself plenty of time to get ready and to arrive at the location. I don't want you to feel rushed during our time together. If you're running late send me a text, it's no big deal.
If possible avoid coming hungry. These experiences are exciting and often take more out of us than we expect. You'll want to be energized and ready to engage.
Brighten your smile immediately by brushing your teeth just before our session. This little trick does wonders to enhancing your smile during photos.
Let loose and enjoy yourself. Laughter bring out peoples personalities and make for some of the best pictures. So relax, goof-off and have a good time! Invite someone along if you'd be more comfortable with someone bringing out the natural you.
