My great-grandmother used to tell me, “Aye mija, I've earned every gray hair and every wrinkle. They are markers of mi experiencia." As I ease into 'middle age' and watch the sparkle in my hair multiply, I can't help but reflect on her words.

My newest project, "I've Earned Every Gray Hair," explores gray hair as a symbol of beauty, wisdom, and a life well lived, by sharing personal stories with photos, video interviews, and written narratives. Because everyone is bound to get gray hair at some point in their life, the project invites anyone who has found a strand and will prioritize individuals who have been historically underrepresented in mainstream media, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
