Portland Catrinas
The History and Evolution of La Catrina explores the importance of one of Mexico's most recognizable symbols. Through vibrant images, the project showcases her connection to the holiday, Día de Los Muertos, in the United States and Mexico. La Catrina is also a cultural touchpoint for many, interpreted through unique and personal expressions. The project includes a short documentary film that follows five Mexican Americans in Portland, Oregon, sharing their expressions of Catrina.

The Aztecs believed that the scent of the Cempasuchil would lead your ancestors home. During Dia de Los Muertos, these flowers can be found everywhere. Their petals lead their loved ones home.
