Start Planning Your Experience
What's your family like
Now that your session is booked the fun begins! This is all about creating a memory for your family. Our goal is to make this a fun experience that you can relive through photos. Think about what your family dynamics, style, and personality. What would you like to see in your photos? Get everyone excited about the experience. Ask for ideas about what to wear or what style would be fun to incorporate. Play around with props and poses together, talk about the location and what kind of moments would be fun to have pictures of. We'll photograph a number of different looks and groups ranging from candid moments full of laughter and smiles, to traditional posed portraits. No matter the pose, the best images are often the ones where you can feel energy and connection of those who are being photographed. Creating authentic moments that reflect your family's connection begin by getting everyone involved.
The memories we make with our family is everything.

What to wear
Family photos should be a relaxed and happy event. Wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable will help you all ease into the experience. Don't wait until the day before to decide your outfit, start playing around and trying things on now. First and foremost, go with items that makes everyone feel confident and reflect their personality in a way. Consider the weather and the location , you may need to bring some extra items for in between.
Be Inspired
Music can be such an influence on our mood. What do you want to feel when you look at your photos? Is it cool, stylish, playful, whatever it is, creating a soundtrack for your experience will help your family feel that way during our session. Listen to it while you're getting ready & while your on your way to the session. If it helps, we can even play it over a Bluetooth speaker to keep the mood going.
Consider Props
What items do you need to bring your vision to life. This could be as elaborate as picnic scene or a special piece of furniture, or as simple as hats or an umbrella. These items should add to your family's experience and help show off everyone's style and personalities. Start gathering these things now, give yourself time and remember this is supposed to be fun.
Hair & Nails
I's suggest booking any haircuts a few days before the session. If you're planning to get styled the day of, be sure to give yourself extra time for things to run late & for you all to get from one place to the other without feeling rushed.
The Day Before
Get everything that you'll need ready now. If your outfits need to be ironed or steamed do it today so you aren't stressing about it tomorrow. Pack any props and special items that you'd like to incorporate into the photos, and make sure they're accessible or already packed in the car. Think about what items would make your session run smoothly and keep your family engaged.
The Day Of
Get in the Mood
*Keep in mind that you're making a memory. Treat your family to that special thing that puts an extra bounce in your step. You want to come feeling your best!
Give Yourself Time
*You don't want you to feel rushed. If you're running late send me a text, it's no big deal. Give your family plenty of time to get ready and to arrive at the location. It won't be fun if you're to feeling rushed during our time together.
Don't Forget To Eat
These experiences are exciting and often take more out of us than we expect, especially with kids. You'll want everyone to be energized and ready to engage during the session. Sometimes snacks are helpful.
Have Fun!
Let loose and enjoy yourself. Laughter brings out people's personalities and makes for some of the best pictures. So, relax, goof-off and have a good time! This is about creating an authentic memory for you and your family, so let your personalities shine.
