“ A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it. ”
(Edward Steichen)
Preparing for your experience
These photos are going to put a face to your brand. So there isn’t a right or wrong way to present yourself, it all depends what image you want to convey with your brand. While a lawyer might prefer a very professional image with a suit and plain background, a creative business owner may want to come across more casual and fun with their photos. Ask yourself, what do you want your potential customers to come way with when they look at your images?
It's more than a look
Don't wait until the day before to decide what image you want to portray for your business. What does professional look like in your industry? Think about what outfits make you feel good and how you want your clients to see you. Start playing around and trying things on now. Go with items that makes you feel confident and good about yourself while reflecting your brand. Keep in mind the little things, like your jewelry & nails. They can make all the difference.
Know what your face is saying
It may sound silly, but start practicing some expressions and poses in the mirror. M is going to collaborate with you throughout the session to help bring out your best looks. But practicing will help you see what expressions you like, this way you have some 'go to' looks while being photographed. Serious and professional is good, but keep in mind what you want your customer to think about you and your approach to the service you're providing.
The Day Before
Get your clothes ready, make sure things are ironed or steam before tomorrow. Are you bringing anything to incorporate into our session? Set it aside now.
*Drink lots of water. It may sound silly, but the more hydrated you are, the better your skin will look. Avoid salty, greasy, or oily foods & limit your alcohol. You want to look & feel your best tomorrow.
*Do a little work out. Nothing strenuous or overly impactful, just a little something to tighten your muscles. A few wall push ups or squats will give you a firm look without much effort.
* Most importantly, be sure to get some sleep. You want to wake up feeling good & rested. This is your time to shine.
The Day Of
Get in the Mood
*This is your opportunity to let your business shine. Focus on what you love and treat yourself as if you were celebrating an accomplishment. You want to come feeling your best!
Give Yourself Time
*The last thing you want you to feel is rushed. Give yourself plenty of time to get ready and arrive on time. There's no need to feel rushed during our time together. If you're running late send me a text, it's no big deal.
Don't Forget To Eat
These experiences are exciting and often take more out of us than we expect. You'll want to be energized and ready to engage. If you don't have time to eat, bring a little something to nibble on between photos. It's hard to concentrate when our stomachs are growling at us.
Brush Your Teeth
Brighten your smile immediately by brushing your teeth just before our session. This little trick does wonders to enhancing your smile during photos.
Have Fun!
Let loose and enjoy yourself. These photos are not only a reflection of your business, but of what your clients can expect. Laughter bring out peoples personalities and make for some of the best pictures. So relax, let loose, and have a good time!
